The Logistics and Transportation Metropolitan Cluster of Montréal, CargoM, relies on the collaboration and innovation of its members to drive its six working groups, each of which are mandated to tackle a specific industry challenge.
Madeleine Paquin, President and CEO of Logistec, is Vice-Chair of the CargoM executive committee. She is also Co-Chair of the working group for Logistics and Transportation Development Opportunities. This working group completed a SWOT analysis earlier this year to better understand the challenges and prospects that lie ahead. From there, it built an action plan to develop and promote Montréal as a logistics hub, both regionally and internationally.
“We are developing relevant tools and measures for CargoM’s stakeholders so that we all become more competitive, and make even greater contributions to the economic development of Montréal,” says Ms. Paquin. “It’s important that we connect with the Montréal business community so that they understand the potential of the CargoM model, and share in our future success.”
The working group invited colleagues from the Port of Savannah (Georgia) to share their experiences and success stories with over 100 workshop attendees. Savannah has resourcefully integrated its transport and logistics sector into the local economy and, like Montréal, is strategically serviced by a port, an airport, and a major highway network. The very successful Savannah model is the basis on which CargoM is developing its model to develop a stronger distribution and logistics network in the greater Montréal area.
