Logistec welcomed the MV Vigorous, 2016 recipient of the Port of Montréal’s Gold-Headed Cane, at its Contrecœur terminal on New Year’s Day. Please visit the Centre d’interprétation maritime for video of the ship’s arrival.
Under the command of Captain Jun Eric Aljo Dalipe, the vessel was the first to reach the Port of Montréal in 2016, crossing into the port’s jurisdiction at 5:21 a.m.
The MV Vigorous, a 180-metre bulk carrier, began its voyage in Sohar, Oman on 30 November 2015 and is currently unloading urea at the Contrecœur terminal on behalf of Yara. Logistec recently invested nearly $12 million in upgrades and new equipment at Contrecœur, including a Liebherr LPS 420 crane with the largest SWL capacity in North America for a rail-mounted crane.
An inscribed ceremonial cane was presented to Captain Dalipe earlier today at a celebration to mark the 177th anniversary of the award. The crew was also greeted upon arrival with a champagne toast. For more information about the history of the award, please visit the Port of Montreal’s website.
