The Port of Johnstown has inaugurated its new wharf, expanded laydown area, and renovated infrastructure. An opening ceremony was held on 26 June 2015, in the presence of elected officials, customers, partners, and over 500 members of the community.

“Having a functional and active port is a huge asset for the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal and surrounding region. Furthermore, this modernisation project gives our customers an additional port of entry along the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence corridor,” said Madeleine Paquin, President and CEO of Logistec.

The Port of Johnstown offers over 40,000 square metres of laydown area for bulk, break-bulk and project cargo, as well as a new 70,000 square-metre dock. The port’s intermodal capabilities include CN rail tracks and close proximity to highways such as the 401 and 416, which connect to key markets throughout the Ottawa Valley and the Greater Toronto Area.

“Through our subsidiary Rideau Bulk, we are currently handling bulk cargo such as road salt and aggregates in Johnstown. With the addition of these new facilities, we can also efficiently handle lumber, steel, and oversized pieces such as wind energy components and other out-of-gauge industrial items,” said Ms. Paquin.
